“So the hyena is the cook, the sailor is the zebra, your mother is the orangutan and you’re the tiger.”

I feel that Théoden is an extremely under-appreciated character. Partly because people tend to look past him at the “greater” king of Men, Aragorn, and partly because he himself never felt that he achieved the same deeds of his fathers. He was not able to fight off the Dunlendings when they raided his lands. He would not allow himself to ride out and meet the forces of Saruman in battle. But all of this was not done out of cowardice—he simply wanted the best for his own people; he constantly searched for the way to keep them safe, and by that, viewed himself as a lesser king. His fathers met their foes in battle, and Théoden felt that he was running away from it. He felt himself a coward. The films show this quite cleverly, and much thanks to Bernard Hill’s brilliant acting. And though Éowyn crying over Théoden’s dead body breaks my heart to pieces, the part of that conversation that really stuck since the first time I ever watched it was Théoden’s last declaration: “I go to my fathers, in whose mighty company I shall not now feel ashamed.” He did not die as he always feared—a king that would be forgotten after some years, only to ever be mentioned for his failure. He died in victory. He died with his people, on his horse, fighting against his foes. He died a hero.

a friend came round to help me revise and forgot to log out of her facebook on my laptop so I’ve spent the last 20 minutes devoting her facebook to trains.

I’ve also got the middle name “ILikeTrains” pending and have joined 50 “I love trains” groups.

FAVOURITE DOCTOR WHO EPISODES - 3x07 - 42

It’s odd though, whenever I have my alarm go off in the day a wave of exhaustion just goes through me. Those few notes have just become associated with sleepyness in my head!

Nine companions. So be it. You shall be the fellowship of the ring

And this is why Nine is my Doctor.

Suddenly I understand what one of my huge issues has been with the latest Doctor Who episodes

The Doctor has been reacting with horror rather than wonder, and running rather than communicating

Thanks 9 you’ve helped me come to a point of clarity
